Fed’s Goolsbee on inflation: discouraging, but still some optimism
Oct 15 (Reuters) Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee said on Thursday that data this week showing stronger-than-expected consumer and producer price inflation has been discouraging. I still have some optimism that if the drivers of inflation are things that can go away in short order, whether that s tariffs, whether that s wars in the Middle East and supply disruptions, that s the best scenario, Goolsbee said in an interview on CNN. If it s coming from overheating demand, from AI data center build out, that s a little more disturbing and we d have to address that. (Reporting by Ann Saphir; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
