How NASA Ames' lunar landing simulator helps prepare for moon missions — San Francisco Technology news

The United States is going back to the moon. Part of the training goes through the Bay Area, where the NASA Ames Research Center has a lunar landing simulator. The simulator is a system of motors, hydraulics and technology that serves as a crucial testing platform. It allows pilots and astronauts to simulate a landing on the moon, as well as a boat or shuttle launch or another kind of spacecraft. Astronauts have used the platform before countless expeditions into space. NBC Bay Area’s Scott Budman got the chance to strap in on Thursday and give it a ride. Watch his full report in the video above.
